CHRG’s July Sports and Community Showcase

On Tuesday 26th July, CHRG held its ‘Sports and Community Showcase’ in the Luxe Lounge at Castle Hill RSL Club.

After a tumultuous couple of years for everybody impacted by fires, COVID-19 and floods, our discussion topic for the evening was ‘The Power of Community’ and how important community is – to us all.

Guest speaker Mr Greg Page (the original Yellow Wiggle and Founder of ‘Heart of the Nation’) spoke of his sudden cardiac arrest on-stage at Castle Hill RSL Club in 2020 and the chain of events that led to his survival. Thanks to the quick thinking of the community around him and access to an AED housed at the club, Greg’s life was thankfully saved that night. This life-changing event planted the seed for Greg to advocate the importance of having AEDs accessible in as many community places as possible.

We also welcomed three guests to participate in our panellist discussion: Mr Paul Sweatman – President of the CHRSL Photography Club, Mr Francis Broomfield – Admin of the Hills District Dads Group and our very own Mr Matt Bailey – General Manager of Lynwood Golf & Country Club.

The panel discussed the importance of organically building strong community connections that create positive change, support networks and growth. It was a great forum to discuss what community means to each of us and recognise just how powerful a community group can be when they rally and connect for the greater good.

Your local, supporting community connections.
