Castle Hill RSL Club is proud to announce Dean Chapman as the recipient of the 2024 Gallipoli Scholarship, recognising his academic excellence and commitment to his community.
Dean, a first-year Bachelor of Engineering student at the University of Wollongong, has a strong passion for mathematics and engineering, with a particular interest in rural infrastructure development. “I’d love to contribute to improving the infrastructure that rural areas rely on,” he shared.
Hailing from Fine Flower in Northern NSW, Dean comes from a family with a proud legacy of service and connection to the land. His great-grandfather, Charles Ernest Hinds, served in World War II as a field engineer in Papua New Guinea, a heritage Dean holds in high regard.
The Gallipoli Scholarship has provided crucial financial support, enabling Dean to focus on his studies while living on campus. “It has given me some financial independence and allowed me to fully commit to my education,” Dean said.
The scholarship also opened doors to unique opportunities, including meeting the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC, at the Gallipoli Scholars presentation ceremony in Canberra.
Castle Hill RSL Club congratulates Dean on this achievement and is honoured to support him on his academic journey. We look forward to seeing the positive impact he will make in regional Australia
