CHRG Supports 25 Years of Hills Relay For Life

CHRG proudly stood alongside the Hills community in support of the 25th Anniversary of Hills Relay For Life, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to initiatives that unite and strengthen the local community. As a Major Sponsor of this milestone event, CHRG contributed $25,000 to support the Cancer Council’s essential work in cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support services.

Held across Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May 2026, the 24-hour relay once again transformed the Hills into a powerful display of community spirit, resilience and hope. Beginning at 9am on Saturday and continuing through to 9am Sunday, the event brought together survivors, carers, families, schools, local businesses, community organisations and leaders, all united in the shared mission of fighting back against cancer.

Throughout the weekend, the CHRG Board of Directors and team members attended the event, participating in the relay and supporting the many activities and ceremonies held over the 24 hours. Their presence reflected CHRG’s strong connection to the community and its dedication to supporting causes that have a profound impact on local families.

Among the most poignant moments of the event was the Candlelight Ceremony, a deeply moving tribute where participants dedicated candles to loved ones, friends and family members who have experienced cancer or sadly lost their lives to the disease. The ceremony created a powerful atmosphere of reflection and remembrance, while also offering hope and solidarity to those continuing their cancer journey. For many attendees, it was a reminder that Relay For Life is about far more than fundraising — it is about standing together as a community in support of one another.

This year’s event was another outstanding success, raising a remarkable $310,186 for the Cancer Council. The incredible result highlighted the generosity and dedication of the Hills community and the collective determination to make a meaningful difference in the fight against cancer.

Now celebrating its 25th year, Hills Relay For Life has become a significant and much-loved community tradition. For a quarter of a century, the event has brought people together to celebrate survivors, honour loved ones and raise vital funds for those affected by cancer.

Committee member and CHRG Director David Hand acknowledged the extraordinary level of community involvement that continues to drive the event’s success.

“Without the fabulous support from every community group, this event would not go ahead, and the $300,000 we raise will not be there to support cancer research,” he said.

CHRG is honoured to have played a part in celebrating 25 years of Hills Relay For Life and remains proud to support initiatives that create lasting impact across the community.
